Alex from Raw got in touch with me to do a short interview about The Umlaut, which they have put up onto their blog, aptly named Raw Type. Go check my words!

Where have I been!? A huge apology, major things have been going on elsewhere and TU has had to take a step back. I managed to get a new job and I’ve been settling in well in London so the time has come to get The Umlaut back on track. I’m back chasing typefaces and the new site build is picked back up behind the scenes. The specimen books are still coming, but with new covers as the expected launch in May has been and gone!
No doubt I’ll tweet and put on here when things really go down.

Apologies for radio silence over the past couple of weeks. Here’s a preview of the site, only a few more days and we’ll be live! Exciting times. Also, there’s a few images of the specimen book for launch up on the site, go and have a scan and get your pre-order in!

Hi there! Just to let everybody know, things are coming on in the web development area. We’ve had a few hiccups that has delayed the production of the site, but things are going from strength to strength, as we’re adding new designers and typefaces to the library as time goes on. Keep on, we’ll let you know as soon as we’re up!

TU is a small online Type foundry. It has been set up to make expressive typography available at a very low cost, and is open for submissions from designers and type lovers everywhere. We have a focus on showcasing experimental and display typography, after all, without pushing those boundaries typography will never evolve.
Our ethos can be summed up by this definition; “[An Umlaut is] a typographical character used within the alphabet, but lacking a place in the alphabetical order.” More information coming very soon! For now, follow us on Twitter.
